Some units will allow you to format it inside the device, and some will require you to do it on a PC. Larger cards come formatted to other formats, so you will need to change it to FAT32 if you have any issues with the card. Another important thing to know it that most Hidden Cameras need a Class10 SD card formatted to FAT32.
